DASA Helmet Policy

Skiing and Snowboarding are inherently dangerous sports. As a member of Disabled Sports USA, DASA is required to ensure that all athletes and volunteers participating directly within our programs are equipped with a helmet at all times – even if we may be spending all of our time on the bunny hill!

Option 1: Bring Your Own Helmet…

To ensure you have a helmet that is a proper and consistent fit, the best option is to purchase and bring your own helmet for use during our regular sessions. Helmets specifically designed for snow sports provide warmth and protection, and can be found at most sporting goods stores during the Winter months. Our friends at the Alpine Shop would be more than happy to help you out if you are in the market for a new helmet. If you shop at the Kirkwood location in person, mention you are a member of our program, and they may also be able to provide a discount on your purchase!

Option 2: Rent a Helmet from DASA…

Unfortunately, Hidden Valley does not provide helmets as a part of the rental option that can be added to our DASA Passes. However, you are more than welcome to utilize one of the dozens of helmets DASA has available in our equipment locker. Let us know you will be needing one at check-in, and we’ll be happy to help you out!

Not an Option: Not Wearing a Helmet…

We ask that all of our volunteer instructors make sure everyone is equipped with a helmet prior to engaging in skiing/boarding on the hill. If you happen to see anyone participating without a helmet, please advise them to visit our equipment locker before proceeding any further with a lesson. If you leave your own helmet at home, we’ll be happy to loan you one for the evening.
